Being surprised by Taylor on MuchMusic: Hey guys! So when I met Taylor… it was beyond my wildest dreams. Beyond anything I’d ever imagined. I mean, we’ve all done it. We’ve all dreamed about the million crazy ways we would meet Taylor. But what happened to me… exceeded all of my ideas. So, I live in Canada. And everyone knows that Taylor comes to Canada as much as she comes to Australia. Not very often. So, it was announced that Taylor would be doing RED promo in Toronto on September 10th, 2012. I flipped. I live two hours from Toronto, so I was clearly going. She was going to be doing an interview on MuchMusic and if you wanted to be in the audience to watch, you had to enter a 30-second video saying why you’re her biggest fan. So, I did and was so nervous, because I really wanted to go to this interview. I don’t get to see her very often and this was my chance to see her before her tour. A few days later, I got a phone call from a guy named Cary from MuchMusic. He said that unfortunately, the audience was full and I didn’t get in. I was really sad. There goes my one chance. He said that since I was coming to Toronto and he loved the energy in my video, he thought I’d be great for something else. Basically, they were filming this new TV show called “Phoebe’s Favourite Things,” where I’d have to go around Toronto in a limo with the MuchMusic host, Phoebe and do her favourite things. I said I would do it, because it sounded like fun. So when I got there on the day of, I began the craziest day of my life. (Oh by the way, there were two other girls with me who also got picked.) They gave us blindfolds and headphones so each stop on our trip would be a surprise. We went to the weirdest places. We went to a goat farm. We meditated in a park. We went to a cheese store. It was so odd. We still had fun though, because the girls with me and the host were so fun to hang out with. The day was just extremely weird. But I had absolutely no idea what was ahead of me.

For the last stop, we waited in the limo for about 30 minutes, blind and deaf, having no idea where we were heading next. They told us it was our second last stop, so we didn’t think it was anything special. We were then yanked out of the limo, moving fairly quickly holding hands (still blindfolded) and walked into a building. I managed to smack my face off the door, being my classy self. We went into this room where they took off our earphones. It was really silent. And odd feeling, like I’d been there before. It felt like the room was empty. It felt like I was at the top of a building or something. I don’t know, it was just a really odd sensation. We were led onto this platform that was EXTREMELY hard to step onto when you’re blindfolded. We stood there for about 30 seconds.  We then heard a voice telling us the most incredible sentence I’d ever heard. She said “Girls, this is the last stop on your tour, please take off your blindfolds.” A million thoughts went through my head. First.. that was not Phoebe. That sounded like the other MuchMusic host that was supposed to be interviewing Taylor today. And second, if I was hearing her voice, where the heck am I?! I ripped off my blindfold with lightning speed. Everything was in slow motion. My blindfold was half off when I saw the face of my hero. My idol. My sunshine. Taylor Swift. As soon as I saw her face, I yanked the blindfold all the way off, and quickly slapping my hands over my mouth in an “oh my god” gesture. I started to cry like a waterfall. Every time I thought about meeting Taylor, I knew I would cry. That was a given. But I didn’t just cry. I was sobbing. Endless tears. I could not believe what was happening. Basically, the whole day was a joke, a trick. The show wasn’t real. It was just a trick to think that we lost the contest, but really we won the ultimate contest. I didn’t even get to speak to Taylor, I was so shocked. I was just speechless. And I’ve planned it. I’ve planned exactly what I would say to her, it was basically scripted.  But when I saw her face.. it all went out the window. I never said a word to her. Not “Hi”. Not “Thank You.” Not “I love you.” Nothing. Pure shock. We hugged her. She gives the most amazing hugs on the planet. We got a picture with her. Hugged her again, and then were ushered off the stage to watch the rest of the interview. That was the craziest day of my life. It makes me so happy to think about it. I’m shaking while writing this. I didn’t get to meet her for very long, so I am still determined to meet her again so I can TALK to her. That sounds selfish, but there’s still so much I need to tell her. I am so thankful that I got to meet Taylor like that, though. I mean, it’s a GREAT story to tell. Taylor is so sweet. She looked so happy to see me. I think one of my favourite feelings in the world was the feeling that Taylor was waiting for ME. That will get me through my toughest days. So that was my meeting-Taylor-story. I’m pretty proud of it. They told me that I was chosen out of thousands of videos across Canada. They said they saw a spark in me, that I needed to meet her.
